Three Norfolk Southern trains meet at CP Conpit. The Conemaugh Generating Station is photographed in the background. On the left, an intermodal train slows to a stop to wait for a loaded garbage train (center). The rightmost train is an eastbound coal train bound for Baltimore. At CP Conpit, the three track mainline (to the East) becomes a two track mainline to the West. In addition, the Conemaugh Line (from Pittsburgh to New Florence) joins the Pittsburgh line. The leftmost track in this photograph is Track 3, referred to the "Sang Hollow Extension." The Sang Hollow Extension takes a more circuitous route through Seward and the Conemaugh Gap.
